BREAKING NEWS: NBA Trade Rumor – Pierce & Pick for Paul?
BOSTON, MA – With the NBA Draft all set for tomorrow, the trade rumors are heating up, and it appears as if no one is safe from avoiding seeing their names mentioned in the news.
Yesterday, it was reported that the New Orleans Hornets will listen to offers for All-Star PG Chris Paul.
Paul said that he wants to win, but is still open to playing in New Orleans and their new regime. However, he could very well be dealt during tomorrow night’s NBA Draft.
One hot rumor being bandied about – The Hornets send Paul to the Boston Celtics for SF Paul Pierce and the Celtics’ first round pick in the Draft.
Right now, it is just being reported as a rumor. No trade has taken place, and it may not even be imminent. But parts of it could make sense for both teams.
Pierce has a player option for $21 million for this upcoming season. Whether he signs it or not, it will eventually free up cap space for his team. And receiving another first round pick for New Orleans would also be nice, where this year’s Draft is fairly deep.
It could also make sense for Boston. Pierce is not the player he was a couple of years ago, and there is no guarantee he will pick up his option and not opt out of his current contract to look elsewhere. With only five or six big name free agents, there will be a number of teams who will miss out on them and still want to bring in a big draw.
Paul would also give Boston a guard who can shoot the ball. He and Rajon Rondo are both great ball handlers, but Rondo still has not developed a great jumper. Paul would give them one of the most versatile backcourts in the NBA.
Like I said, it is just rumor, but it could be in the best interests of both teams to explore making it a possibility…

If this is true. Paul Pierce will opt out of his contract and go back to the Celtics with a mid level exception.

No way chief. We have Rondo and Nate and Pierce isn’t going anywhere willingly. I really hope there’s no chance that this can happen before the draft.

Not gonna happen, Chris Paul and Rondo on the same team. Work on your rumors we have bigger fish to fry ie our need for 3 big men, and a SG that can start.

LMAO is this guy serious?
So the logic is that because Rondo can’t shoot, we bring in Chris paul to back him up?
Dumb. Rondo is the best PG in the league, we would never back him up with another great PG, there would be no need to do that.
What we need is someone who can score at the two or 3 spot to back up ray and pierce.
In conclusion: Trading PP for an extra great PG is NOT what we need. That would be FOOLISH.
We only need a PG who can SCORE, and there are plenty out there like Nate Robinson who can do that to back up Rondo.
No need to trade the f

this could work if the celtics were incredibly unloyal. Paul pierce has stuck by them through all the awful easons and theyre not gonna trade him for a guy who may be better but is an unneccesary edition. there is no way this rumor will come true

This isn’t a rumor, it’s something completely made up by the author of this post.
It doesn’t make sense on any level. Rondo, the salaries not matching, the fact NO wouldn’t want Pierce, etc.

not saying this trade will happen – actually don’t think either team improves enough to pull the trigger. but it certainly is interesting. pierce is not the same player. he may not even have a contract here soon anyway, and paul is one of the best players in basketball. wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen…

Interesting trade. Is your next article going to speculate that the Celtics are bringing back Dino Radja as an extra big man and ML Carr as the new coach?
