The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a kicking problem. I don’t know how else to put it. Roberto Aguayo was awful. He was a horrible draft pick. He is a horrible kicker at the ultimate level. Nick Folk was a good kicker. He was reliable. He now also sucks.
After missing three crucial field goal attempts against the New England Patriots in a game that the Bucs would go on to lose by a final score of 19-14, the Tampa Bay Faithful let Folk know just exactly what they think about him:
In his defense, his first miss was from 58 yards out, after the Patriots inexcusably took back-to-back foolish 15 yard penalties to set up Tampa for a chance at three points leading into the half. But it wasn’t that Folk missed the kick, it was more how he missed the kick. It had the distance, but he pushed it by about 20 yards to the right. Just ugly.
Unfortunately for Folk, the night would only get worse.
His next miss was from 49 yards out, which is also no chip shot, but he missed it by a ton, again. Folk’s final miss was a 31 yard field goal attempt. No excuses here. It was an ugly night for Folk.
The question is, was Folk’s last miss his final attempt with the Bucs?
The San Diego Chargers had enough of the Younghoe Koo experiment and opted to bring back a familiar face in Nick Novak. No, I am not advising the Bucs to go out and bring back Aguayo. They would be better off dusting off Martin Grammatica. Maybe they should go out and give Josh Lambo or Dan Carpenter a tryout. Or Mike Nugent or Patrick Murray. Just try something!
If not, simply put…
the Bucs are folked this season.
