The Circus is Coming to Cincinnati

CINCINNATI – Remember asking your parents to go to the circus when you were younger? Well, I never did, because I was terrified of clowns. You can actually thank my mother for that, but that is a different story for another day.

Anyway, fans in Cincinnati can go see the circus any time they want. Just attend a Cincinnati Bengals game this season.

Can this really work? Really?

Ger your popcorn ready in Cinci, because Terrell Owens is about to join the Bengals.

The Bengals decided to become the first team in NFL history to sign two diva wide receivers and line them up on opposite sides of the field. How angry is HBO that they did Hard Knocks on the Bengals last year instead of this year. Now all we get to watch is Rex Ryan talk about his stomach stapling starting in a couple of weeks.

The T.O. show will unite with Chad Ochocinco. Now we are talking about two of the most talented wide receivers in the history of the NFL. Ochocinco is not nearly as bad as Owens. He is flamboyant at times, and definitely a showman, but no quarterback has ever wanted to throw him into the ring of fire. Ocho doesn’t drink, smoke, or party late. He just has an ego, but then again, how many receivers do not?

Enter Owens, or OchoUno, I guess. He has been tossed off of San Francisco, Philadelphia and Dallas, and was extremely lackluster in Buffalo last season. Although in his defense, Buffalo is quite lackluster in their own right.

How will Palmer perform as the ringleader?

What is surprising is that this was not just another owner or GM or coach who thinks that they can tame T.O. Carson Palmer not only endorsed this signing, but also pleaded with management to make it happen. He realizes that playoff caliber teams need as many weapons at their disposal as possible nowadays, especially in the passing game. Since T.J. Houshmandzadeh left for Seattle a few years ago, the Bengals’ passing attack has not been the same. The team signed Antonio Bryant this past offseason, but he is still hurt, and the coaches are already losing confidence in him.

So, with that being said, will Palmer be able to lead this three ring circus? Fans and front office members will certainly hope so, as they are banking their chances on it this season.

Could Papelbon Lose His Job in the Second Half of the Season?

I've been saying this for almost two years now, and while it may be a very unpopular sentiment in the city of Boston, it is one that needs to be stated and restated: It is time for the Boston Red Sox to trade Jonathan Papelbon, or remove him from the closer role. After watching the first half of the 2010 MLB . . . [Read more]
