The ratings have been consistently tanking. To your point of placating, as I am a literal member of ADHD America I would love to be placated to (and I might even pay attention long enough to notice). I am certainly not advocating the reinvention of the sport as a whole, but merely a Darwinian influence to a struggling sport. What the MLB SHOULD do, however, is move to an MLS style set up, where the top 8 teams ONLY move on to the playoffs, and the bottom team from each league fights to not be relegated to AAA-level or whatever they create that is the level below MLB ball. You'd better believe that the quality of the game at all teams gets better as the Tigers fight to not be kicked out of the MLB and put together a team that can actually compete for a full season.
