Boston Sports – Weekend Update

Quite a weekend so far in Boston Sports!

Red Sox LogoThe Red Sox to lose two games in one day. They lose the continuation of Friday night’s game in the 12th inning after Manny Delcarmen gave up a two run dinger to Tampa Bay’s Pat Burrel in the top of the 12th and failed to come back. The Sox Game 2 energy seemed to math the weather. Pat Burrel continued to plague the Sox with 3 out of TB’s 6 RBIs giving them the lead that they would end up holding on to for the rest of the game.

Boston Celtics

In happier news The Celtics hang on for a victory in Game 1 against the Miami Heat. The Celtics finally played with some intensity as Kevin Garnett got tossed after throwing an elbow at Miami’s Quentin Richardson’s head.  Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis or ‘Uno Uno’ or whatever the heck is name is actually showed a bit of passion as he wrestled the ball away from Dwayne Wade.  Game 2 will be Tuesday night at the Garden.

Boston Bruins LogoThe Bruins tie up their series with the Buffalo Sabres 1-1 with a 5-3 victory on the road yesterday at the HSBC Arena.  Michael Ryder and Zdeno Chara with 2 goals each and Mark Recchi adding an empty netter to finish of the Sabres.  Chara’s laser of a shot finally shows some hope as Claude’s practice technique of putting up a jersey barrier and forcing them to shoot up under the crossbar may have actually paid off. They’ll play Game 3 on home ice Monday at the Garden.

That’s all I have for now.  Hopefully the Sox can try to split the series with Tampa Bay before hosting the Texas Rangers.  The Celtics just need to show the same intensity more than one night in a row.  The Bruins need to hope they didn’t use up all their goal scoring on the road, as has often been their weak point.
