Here Comes The Money – Mayweather Downs Mosley

For years, everyone has been wondering how Floyd Mayweather would react when or if he was ever backed into a corner. Last night, they all got their answer.

For the first time in his career, an opponent of Mayweather’s actually hurt him. Shane Mosley came to fight, and he came out with a fury for the first couple of rounds.

Floyd Mayweather dominated Shae Mosley after a near knockdown.

With a near knockdown in the second round, Mosley could still not take control of the fight. Following perhaps the worst round of his career, Mayweather came out more aggressive than normal to dominate. While he did not knock out Mosley, he was impressive nonetheless.

Mayweather earned a lopsided unanimous decision over Mosley. Two judges scored the match 119-109 while the third scored it 118-110. All were in favor of Mayweather, who upped his record to 41-0.

He wanted to prove to his critics that he could come out and fight – not just box – by going toe – to – toe with Mosley. He certainly accomplished that goal.

Mayweather will earn a minimum of $22.5 million dollars for the fight, but he would still love to reach an even bigger pay day with a bout against Manny Pacquiao. But it still does not seem like a lock, even with Mayweather doing what he needed to do against Mosley.

Mayweather wants Pacquiao to consent to a blood and urine test. If he will, then the two will fight.

If not, Mayweather says there will be no big score in what is basically the only fight that the world wants to see.

There remains only one fight the boxing world wants to see - Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.

Pacquiao told people that he would only agree to blood testing if it is not taken within 24 days of the fight. That is the same stance that cancelled chances of the fight taking place the first time around.

I have no doubt in my mind that Pacquiao is at least one of two things – either a coward or a cheater… or both. He claims that he needs the blood to be drawn a few weeks prior to the fight, because Mayweather is the bigger man (both literally and figuratively in my opinion), and he needs time to recuperate.

We have all had blood drawn – I don’t know anyone who needs more than a couple of minutes to regroup. So Manny is either scared to fight Mayweather and lose, or he is taking some sort of illegal substance to enhance his in ring performance, thus causing him to fail the test.

Mayweather was guaranteed $22.5 million dollars but probably will end up with much more once the final pay-per-view buys are totaled. Mosley was guaranteed $7 million dollars, and also had a share in the television revenues.

There remains speculation that a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight could bring in close to $40 million dollars for each fighter. Tell me there is a man alive who would pass that up if it were completely in his power. Exactly. I can’t either.
