Team USA Ties England in World Cup Opener

RUSTENBURG, South Africa — For those of you that are not fans of Soccer (or as the rest of the world calls it, Football) a tie may not be very exciting at all.  Don’t get me wrong here, I would have loved to see the US beat England but a tie isn’t a loss and that’s good enough for me.  A draw to finish out a tough match in front of the 38,646 fans at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

England was definitely favored heading into this rivalry matchup.  They showed why too after getting out to a quick 1-0 lead with a goal by captain Steven Gerrard in the fourth minute of play.

Thinks were looking grim early on until Clint Dempsey got a dribbler shot by the most hated man on England’s team right now Robert Green.  Check out the video below to see why this may be the last you see of Green.

The US is heavily favored in its next two matchups against Slovenia on June 18th and Algeria on June 23rd.
