Kentucky Derby Odds 2013: Orb, Verrazano Favorites To Win At Churchill Downs On May 4

The 139th Kentucky Derby Draw has been revealed, with Orb coming in as a Morning Line favorite of 7-2 to win at Churchill Downs on Saturday, May 4. Verrazano is currently a 4-1 favorite, while Louisville Cardinals basketball coach Rick Pitino looks to continue a great Spring with Goldencents, who is currently a 5-1 favorite. Other horses who sit atop the current Kentucky Derby points standings and who are expected to make a run for the roses on Saturday include Java’s War, Revolutionary and Overanalyze. While he is not near the top of the standings, Normandy Invasion is also turning a lot of heads as we enter the first race of horse racing’s illustrious triple crown.

In fact, Jay Cronley of ESPN is picking Normandy Invasion, but he is also not counting out another threat to finish first on Saturday.

“I have about 75 dollars’ worth of futures tickets on Revolutionary,” Cronley said. “True, his jockey jumped ship. True, his best Beyer number is probably off-track inflated. True, he breaks with reservation. True, his new old jockey is best appreciated when overlooked. Those are truisms enough so that I will wager no more on this one solely to win.”

For the record, Cronley picks Normandy Invasion to win, Orb to place, Revolutionary to show and Orb to finish right outside the top three. Here is a look at the complete 139th Kentucky Derby Draw, as it relates to the post positions as well as the current odds:
