Tim Tebow is a polarizing professional athlete who falls on one clear side of the line between love and hate. Some love him, others hate him. Those who love him, like many casual fans, love the type of person he is away from the gridiron. For that, I respect him. For those who hate him, it is because they know that he has absolutely no right playing quarterback in the NFL. With that, I happen to agree. After his release from the New York Jets, many people, including myself, feel as if the best landing spot for Tebow is not just at another position, but more so a different league, such as the Canadian Football League. Tebow is clearly not an NFL quarterback, but could perhaps stand a better chance of succeeding in the CFL.
That is, unless you believe Warren Moon, who, for the first time in a long time has rendered an opinion about a quarterback who does not happen to be African-American.
“You have to be able to throw the ball up there, if anything. They throw the ball a lot. It’s only three downs, so the passing game is much more important up there, and there’s a lot more field to cover,” Moon said in an interview with KILT-AM in Houston. “If you can’t throw the football, it doesn’t matter where you play quarterback,” he said. “You have to be able to throw it. That’s his biggest problem, just being able to complete passes, be an accurate passer. I think he’s a really good athlete playing the position, but I don’t think that’s enough sometimes.”
Moon is right, at least this time. Tebow was a winner while leading the Florida Gators to a National Championship on his way toward winning the Heisman Trophy. He had a great college career. But as we have seen on more than one occasion, the college game does not always translate into NFL success. Although, if you listen to super sports agent, Drew Rosenhaus, Tebow Time may not be completely over with in the NFL.
According to CBS Sports, Rosenhaus told WQAM 560 that he “wouldn’t be shocked” if the Miami Dolphins considered signing Tebow. According to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, Miami owner Stephen Ross is a fan.
I have stated on multiple occasions that the Dolphins have been one of the poorest run franchises in recent history. Aside from the Miami Heat, it seems to be a trend in professional sports in Miami. Jeff Ireland is a moron. Ross has a strong business acumen, but he is proving to be out of his element in the NFL. But, while the Dolphins have swung and missed so often since Ross took over, Miami has finally made a splash this offseason, landing players such as Mike Wallace, Dannell Ellerbe and Brent Grimes, while trading up to draft Dion Jordan. I am not saying that all of these moves will pay off or that I agree with them all, but it is nice to at least see the Dolphins are finally trying to build something special.
Even the have to know that signing Tebow would be the complete opposite of all of that. That means that while I have taken pot shot after pot shot at the Dolphins for years now, not even Ross and Ireland could be stupid enough to sign Tebow.
