The Seattle Seahawks took The Road To MetLife Stadium to capture their first ever Super Bowl championship. After blowing out the Denver Broncos last Sunday in MetLife Stadium in Super Bowl XLVIII, the Seahawks are hungry for more. The NFL is a year-round business, with no real offseason. While the players may receive a bit of a reprieve from absorbing brutal hits on a weekly basis, the coaches and front office receive far less rest. With that being said, as soon as the Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII, the planning and preparation for the 2014 NFL season and what needs to be done in order to help secure a spot for Seattle in Super Bowl XLIX needed to begin.

In the spirit of full-disclosure, I’m working as part of the Road to MetLife Stadium Preferred Blogger Program. And, for the record, the Seahawks fully plan to defend their Super Bowl XLVIII championship by making it to Glendale in February of 2015 in Super Bowl XLIX. Just ask Seattle head coach, Pete Carroll.

“They have come together to do something very special and it’s not just one year,” Carroll told the crowd at the Seahawks’ victory parade. “We’re just getting warmed up if you know what I’m talking about.”

Carroll also said that he expects a fairly quiet offseason, as he claims that the team has little to do through free agency and trades, unlike what occurred in 2013.

“I don’t see anything that we need to add. We just have to get better,” Carroll said. “These players know that they got better all the way to the last game of the season. That’s always out there for us and that will continue to be our focus.”

Last offseason, the Seahawks went out and signed Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril and Tony McDaniel while trading for Percy Harvin. This offseason, Seattle once again needs to make sure that Bennett is in the fold for 2014, as he is a free agent, and will also look to re-sign players such as Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin. Overall, the team does not expect to go out and bring in any marquee free agents. They will just look to continue to have extremely strong NFL Drafts, which have brought in players such as Russell Wilson, Bruce Irvin, Bobby Wagner, Richard Sherman, K.J. Wright, Malcolm Smith, Byron Maxwell, Russell Okung, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor and Walter Thurmond since 2010.

Needless to say, the front office is certainly doing its part in giving the Seahawks every opportunity and advantage necessary in seeking back-to-back Super Bow, championships.

Current players such as Justin Tuck and Josh Brown of the New York Giants, Greg Jennings of the Minnesota Vikings and Nick Mangold of the New York Jets, as well as former stars including Emmitt Smith and Eddie George all got together to put out quite an impressive rendition of the National Anthem.
