11 Miles! Day 202 – Week 29 Day 6 – Holy CRAP!

I can honestly say that I didn’t anticipate how difficult it would be to run through the winter and keep progressing towards our final goal of the half-marathon.
I can also say that I did not anticipate that the first time I did 11 miles I would finish feeling as though I could head out and do another 11 miles 20 minutes later, though that’s how I feel. I’m not sure if it is the adrenaline or if I have actually conditioned my body so well at this point.
I remember the first “run” I did as part of this whole thing, “Day 0” was a 3-mile struggle that made me realize just how out of shape I was. I did a run/walk combo that I was surprised to finish at all and did it at a 11:53 / mi pace. I was out of sweating and out of breath for what felt like forever and had to use my inhaler.
Today I did 11 miles at a 10:23 / mi pace, 1 minute and 30 seconds faster per mile, 8 miles longer. I caught my breath within a minute or two of finishing, grabbed some water, and I feel as though I could do it all again right now.
I hope that you all can look back at the start and recognize your own accomplishments, we’re nearly there and although there have been setbacks and detours along the way, we’re going to make it to 13.1 and we’re going to have fun doing it.
