The Poker Table Pits Bill Burr, Al Madrigal, and Other Comics Against Each Other

The Poker Table is a side-splitting show which pits comedy stars Bill Burr, Al Madrigal, Bobby Lee among others against each other. Produced by the growing media banner All Things Comedy, the show is currently a digital exclusive on the production banner’s site and YouTube channel. The Poker Table now has five episodes in total, with each release more hilarious than the last. The latest episode features Saturday Night Live’s very own Bobby Moynihan. Other stars featured on the show include comedians Morgan Murphy, Eddie Pepitone, Felipe Esparza, and Nikki Glaser who hosts her own show Not Safe.

An instant hit

The concept is unassuming yet fresh as the comedians sit across from each other at the poker table and exchange stories. This is similar to what Dan Jones calls The Lost Art of Entertaining, as it is about friends chatting while playing Texas Hold’em instead of going out to a party.

ATC really hit the jackpot with this one as fans of the comics and poker alike are tuning in to see what’s coming next on the show. In fact, media giant Comedy Central struck a deal with ATC around the same time The Poker Table aired last year. The comic platform agreed to air an original standup series and three one-hour specials.

Poker lives

On the other side of the fence, poker clubs are thrilled with the representation of the game, with some of the players on forums exclaiming how “poker lives on” through the show. In fact, what the show references isn’t an antiquated American tradition anymore but a growing community of online poker players globally. The show actually pokes fun at this, as the first episode emulates the early days of the World Series of Poker through explaining to the viewers how to play Texas Hold’em.

Entrepreneur reports the global online gaming market is currently worth $116 billion a year. A huge part of this figure is made up from the growing number of online poker players and social clubs that they populate. BagoGames PPPoker review reveals just how active today’s poker players are, with the platform bringing together members from over 100 countries to form a thriving global community.. Backed by a community this huge, it’s not surprising that each of The Poker Table episodes have already hit more than a million views on YouTube

The future

While there have been no announcements yet, The Poker Table is sure to add more episodes as fans of the game and the show are clearly lining up to watch it.

ATC also recently announced its partnership with Wondery, a medium for independent podcasters. The comic media house is set to expand its already wide selection of podcasts, which includes Bill Burr’s own Monday Morning Podcast, Bert Kreischer’s Bertcast, and Bobby Lee’s Tiger Belly. ATC hosts around 40 video and podcast titles on its site and continues to grow as more comedians gravitate towards the platform. Here’s hoping there will be many more The Poker Table episodes.
